The Parish Council’s allotment site is situated off Alexandra Road, Swallownest, and has 55 allotment gardens.

All allotments are currently fully occupied, to be added to the waiting list please telephone the Council office on 0114 2879008. The Allotment rents run from 1 October to 30 September. The rent is presently £20 and is reviewed annually.

The Council is a member of the National Allotment Society.

There is an Association on the allotments (Swallownest Allotment Association) which was formed by a group of Tenants to assist then in such areas as bulk purchase of seeds and other items to minimise costs. It also helps people to be self-sufficient in food production together with creating a self-help community spirit.

The Association is supported by the Parish Council who has awarded several grants to assist with its running costs and also refurbishment of a safe and secure building to store supplies of seeds etc. 


Tenancy Agreement

A Tenancy Agreement is in force outlining the Parish Council’s Terms and Conditions of use which is signed by both the Parish Council and Tenant prior to occupancy.
